Weather in Iowa can be unpredictable, especially during peak high school senior photo season — but don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

As a senior photographer in Humboldt, Fort Dodge, and North Central Iowa, I keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to your session. If we’re dealing with rain, extreme heat, or humidity, we’ll adjust the plan to keep your senior photo session comfortable and enjoyable.

That might mean rescheduling, taking breaks, or mixing in indoor locations when needed. Your experience (and your hair + makeup 😉) matter, so we make thoughtful decisions to ensure your photos turn out beautiful no matter what.

Choosing outfits for your senior pictures doesn’t have to be stressful — in fact, it’s one of the most fun parts.

The best place to start is with your everyday style. Your senior photo session should reflect who you are right now, not just what’s trendy. If you’re unsure, I’ll guide you toward timeless, flattering options that photograph beautifully and still feel like you.

Before your session, we’ll talk through outfit ideas, colors, and locations so everything feels cohesive. I always recommend:

• Trying on outfits ahead of time (including undergarments)

• Making sure shoes are comfortable to walk in

• Steaming or hanging outfits to avoid wrinkles (they definitely show on camera!)

The goal is simple: you feel confident, comfortable, and love how you look in your senior portraits.

You are not expected to know what to do — that’s my job 😊

Most seniors I work with in their senior photo sessions say they feel a little awkward at first, and that’s completely normal. I guide you through everything from posing to movement so your senior photos feel natural, not stiff or forced.

You’ll get a mix of lightly guided poses and more candid, “magazine-style” moments so your personality actually shows through. By the end, it usually just feels like hanging out and having fun — with really good photos as a bonus.

Professional hair and makeup makes a big difference in how your senior pictures look and how confident you feel during your session.

I recommend working with a professional artist so your makeup is camera-ready while still looking natural and like you. My style is clean and true-to-life — not heavy editing — so having a polished, even look in person helps your senior portraits turn out their best.

If you prefer a soft, minimal look, we can absolutely do that. The goal is to enhance your natural features, not change them.
