What if someone in my family is sick before our family portrait session?

As a mom, I completely understand that illness happens — especially with kids. If someone in your family has a fever or a contagious illness before your family portrait session, just let me know and we’ll reschedule your family photo session for a time when everyone is feeling better.

Keeping families healthy is always the priority, and I’m happy to work with you to find a new date so your family portraits can still be relaxed and enjoyable.

What if my kids don’t behave during our family photos?

Don’t worry — this is one of the most common concerns parents have before their family photo session. Kids don’t need to be perfect to create beautiful family portraits.

The best thing you can do is keep the day simple. Make sure everyone has eaten, little ones are rested, and try not to overschedule before your portrait session. A relaxed parent helps kids feel relaxed too.

With years of experience photographing families and children, I guide the session so your kids can be themselves while still creating natural, joyful family photos.

What happens if it rains on the day of our family photo session?

Weather in Iowa can be unpredictable, so I keep a close eye on the forecast during the week of your family portrait session. If the weather looks questionable, I’ll reach out and we’ll decide together whether to move your family photo session or wait and see.

Sometimes the weather changes quickly throughout the day, so we typically make the final call a few hours before your session time. If rain becomes an issue, we’ll simply reschedule so you still get the beautiful family portraits you’re hoping for.

What if I have trouble choosing my favorite family photos?

It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed when choosing your family portraits. That’s why every session includes a guided View & Order appointment where I help you narrow down your favorite images and decide what will look best in your home.

Before your appointment, it can be helpful to think about how you’d like to enjoy your family photos — whether that’s wall art, an album, or a combination of both. My goal is to make the process simple so you leave excited about the portraits you’ve chosen.
