As a mother, I understand that illness happens, and we certainly are able to work with you to find a new date once your little one is feeling better. Please let me know if your child or one of your family members has a contagious illness or a fever, in order to best protect our staff and my studio/equipment.

Trust me, we have all been there. Remember that your attitude rubs off on your little ones, so try to stay calm and don’t make huge plans the day of the session. Make sure everyone has a full tummy and some protein so they are feeling their very best. If possible, schedule naps beforehand, so they are also well-rested. And then leave the rest to me. I have plenty of experience working with children and their families! If your little one is teething or under the weather, please let me know so we can reschedule accordingly.

My second calling in life is being a meteorologist. I watch the weather for the week of your session. If the weather looks bad on the day of your session, and I have time I will try and bump you up. If that's not possible between both of our schedules, we will wait until your session date and up to about 4 hours before your session to make the call. The weather changes constantly and it's crazy how it can end up being pushed off as the day goes on. Rain is always a difficult challenge, but we can work together to make your session exactly what you want.

Choosing outfits is a personal preference, but I am happy to help you if you need guidance. Solid colors, neutrals, and minimal busy, loud prints tend to photograph best. If one member is in a statement print, try to keep the rest of your crew in natural tones to keep the focus on your faces, not your clothes! Once you schedule your session I'll send you a questionnaire to get you thinking about colors you love and colors you use in your home.

Do not stress on a location for photos; that's my job. I always ask if you prefer a certain type of location, such as the woods/forest, or rustic locations, etc. Then I'm sure to scout the locations to make sure the lighting will work with your scheduled time. If not, we adjust the location or the time of your photos.

Honestly, I prefer you to go off of your kids' nap/bedtime schedule. Most photographers only shoot in the evening when the sun is near sunset for the best lighting. Of course, it's beautiful, but in the summer it can be as late as 7:30 before we could start a session. That doesn't work very well if bedtime is at 8:00 (and three-year-olds and under really like bedtime). All the beauty of sunlight doesn't matter if your little is having a meltdown because they want to go to bed! I can almost always find a location with good lighting at any time of the day.

Yes! If you're having a full custom session, we can mix and match your session. This does also depends on your kids' ages. Sometimes if they're three and under it can get to be a lot, but I'm so happy to try and get everything you want out of your session. As a general rule, we try to schedule your highest priority (inside or out) first, so that your children are happiest.

It's so much fun mixing and matching photos and sizes to make the perfect photo wall for your home. I recommend measuring any space you will be hanging large prints or products BEFORE your ordering session.

I know it sounds overwhelming coming to your order session without having days to look at your photos, but I've found that everyone leaves happy and relieved knowing all the decisions are done and you know exactly what you're getting. It is most helpful to make a list of the types of products you want before you arrive for your ordering session, so you don’t feel as stressed and forget something.

Typically a session lasts 45 minutes. If you have multiple outfits, it can go up to 60 minutes. For extended families, they typically last around 90 minutes depending on the size of the family.
