"Always be humble and kind."

Aaliyah's grandmother’s words have stayed with her through it all. They guide her every day, whether she's facing challenges or celebrating successes. This beautiful senior is someone who moves through life with a quiet strength and a lot of heart. She’s not one to boast, but when she cares about something or someone, she’s all in: protecting what she loves with everything she’s got. She wasn’t too worried about how it would go, and with the hair and makeup details taken care of, she could just focus on having fun. Even though she wasn’t totally comfortable being in front of the camera at first, it didn’t take long for her to relax. With just a little guidance on posing, she started feeling at ease, and her true personality came through in every shot.

Aaliyah has always had a clear vision for her future. She’s already in her first year of college, and on top of that, she’s earned her CNA certification while still in high school. Hello, impressive! She plans to become an ultrasound tech, and it’s not just about the career for her. It’s about making a real difference in people’s lives, something that’s always been important to her. High school might not have been all smooth sailing and she overcame many obstacles, but Aaliyah’s experience in FFA has been one of the highlights. After five years in the program, she’s built lasting friendships and learned valuable skills that she’ll carry with her forever. Agriculture has been a space where she could learn from others, and set new goals for herself.

When Aaliyah talks about the things she cares about, one thing stands out: her passion for animals. Specifically, she’s dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of supporting dog rescues and encouraging people to adopt rather than buy from breeders. This isn’t just a passing interest for her, it’s actually a cause she feels deeply connected to and actively advocates for whenever she can. Like most of my seniors, Aaliyah had to face some tough lessons along the way. One of the biggest was realizing that not everyone who seems close to you will stick around. High school friendships can be tricky, and Aaliyah learned to trust herself more than anyone else. If she could give herself advice as a freshman, it would be to stop stressing about what others think and focus on what really matters: her own growth and happiness.

After graduation, Aaliyah is looking forward to a bit of downtime. She plans to travel and enjoy her hometown before college kicks into full gear. She knows it’s important to take a moment to reflect on all that she’s accomplished and to be present for the people and places that have helped shape her. I loved being just a tiny part of her story!
