Lincoln: Senior Photography Session

When I reflect back on Lincoln’s senior session, the first thing that comes to mind is how much personality she had. I always hope seniors feel comfortable enough to just be themselves, and Lincoln stepped into that space so naturally. She told me she felt welcomed and free to be who she is, which is exactly the kind of experience I want every senior to have. Even with the heat and unpredictable weather, everything came together in the best way and I could see her relax right into the moment.

One of my personal favorite moments was watching her realize how beautiful she looked in her photos... I could see it happen right in front of me. Every time I showed her the back of the camera and she saw how she was glowing, her face lit up even more. She noticed the smile on my face too because I knew we were capturing something special. Lincoln confided in me later that she came into the experience nervous and scared, but walked away with a confidence she did not even know she had. Hearing that will stay with me for a long time, and is the very best compliment.

Lincoln’s mom originally found me through online searches, and I am so grateful she did because getting to know Lincoln was such a gift. She describes herself as smiley, honest, loving, and up for a good time, and she brought every part of that to her session. She has spent her high school years involved in FFA, soccer, flag team, band, jazz band, wrestling manager, football manager, speech, and interact. FFA in particular opened her eyes to the world of agriculture and helped her discover her passion for animal science. Soccer gave her a second family and taught her lessons about resilience, friendship, and carrying herself with pride. Hearing her talk about these experiences made it easy to understand the kind of person she is.

Her favorite subjects in school reflect that same mix of heart and curiosity. Animal science fascinates her because she loves learning how animals grow and function. She also has a real love for math, especially algebra, and has taken advanced classes, always passing with nothing lower than a ninety (ummmmm, so impressive!). She is inspired by her oldest sister Maddie, who she describes as her best friend. Maddie brings courage, respect, joy, and laughter into every room, and it is clear how deeply Lincoln admires her. One of the things I loved most was hearing about her passion for changing lives. She has a tender heart for both people and animals and loves seeing growth in all forms. She learned in high school to never let the opinions of others determine her worth, and the advice she would give her freshman self is simple. Let it go. It is also her favorite quote because she believes that letting go brings freedom and opens the door to new possibilities.

Lincoln has big plans ahead. She will attend Iowa State to major in animal science and then continue into the veterinary program. She is already a leader through FFA and throughout her school, and she leads by including everyone and never wavering from who she really is. After graduation, she hopes to travel the world and try new things, and I have no doubt she will be a huge success.

Lincoln, photographing you was an absolute joy. You brought so much heart, light, and honesty to your session. I cannot wait to cheer you on as you continue chasing everything you love. If you are a senior reading this and want an experience that feels welcoming, fun, and uniquely you, reach out and let’s start planning your own session.
